Question of the Week

Our favorite part of recording a live podcast each week is participating in the great conversations that happen on our live chat, on social media, and in our comments section.

This week’s question is:

How do you become a Google Certified Coach?

Weekly Topic

  • Should Instructional Coaches become Certified Coaches?
  • What types of Certifications are available for Instructional Coaches?
  • What is the Google Certified Coaching Program?
    • How does it work?
      • Participants work through the Google Certified Coaching Curriculum, complete the skills assessment, and submit their application along with a portfolio. Rolling applications – notification within 4-6 weeks.
    • What are the requirements?
      • Level 1 and Level 2 Google Certified Educator
    • How long does the program take to complete?
      • The program is self-paced, but is designed to be completed throughout the school year.
The curriculum takes ~ 20 hours to complete. Once completed participants take an assessment and then assemble their portfolio to submit along  with their application.
    • Financial Requirements
    • What do you learn from the program?
      • The program is centered on the 5-Step Coaching Model, and provides a structured, research-proven set of strategies to drive impactful coaching interactions and technology use. The focus, however, is not on the technology rather on building the relationships, making this program useful for all educators in a coaching role (not just for Tech Integrators). Google highlights their Workspace tools as a means to assist coaches in their work.
